- Is this mail original?
- Are you sure that whatever you are Reading is TRUE and its sent by the same persone which you are assuming?
- Is this the email from someone you know?
- Have you received an email from this sender before?
- Does email from the sender with the contents as described in the Subject line and the name of the attachment(s) make sense?
- Does this email contain a virus?
You cant easily figure out just looking the e-mail.
So here is one question we are getting quite often: "How can I find out who is sent me this email?”
Here’s a quick guide on how you can track email to it’s originating location and check its originality in few seconds....?
There are several technical tutorial available online which will tell you the same thing in detail. Here i dont want to go into deep and waste your time for following those steps. Even I dont like it. So I will uncover all those things later on.

This is the Real case Study:
Few days before I got one (spam) email with subject 'ICICI BANK ONLINE'.
As it came into my spam folder of gmail, i was sure that its spam, but still I decided to check its originality.
First I opened up that mail
This is the first evidance which shows that this mail is not original
Lets go further... Lets open the link given in the mail.
Its looking true ICICI bank page.... .. .
But have you noticed the address bar?
Its not the real ICICI bank address.
Why dont you google it and verify it?
Second evidance we got here....

There is thing called as e-mail Header which shows the actual source of the mail from which it came, from first source till your inbox.
Sounds intresting.....
This is the real proof for originality of your e-mail.
But..... one can not understand the Headers just by looking it.
We need to understand it properly.
But where are the Headers?
Just see screen-shot below for gmail
(for yahoo i m giving at the end of tutorial)
(to check the e-mail headers click the down arrow and click on 'Show original' in the e-mail)
You will get something like this in one pop-up window
I have marked something in that header.
This is the showing the original senders IP.
You may not understand this just now.
Then how i got that?
Leave that thing for now and just go further.....
1)Open the URL:
or just open the website: http://whatismyipaddress.com/
and click on the link 'Trace Email'
2)copy the headers. (I have shown in above screen-shot)
3)paste it into the text-area provided on above URL
(just see screen-shot below)
Click on 'Get Souce'
here you got Details of the sender of the e-mail in above screen-shot.
Its not providing sufficiant information that will proove that this is original icici mail.
Its showing some location and country.
Here you traced the original sender. Now you can complaint against that IP address at http://www.cybercellmumbai.com. Or

Just click on the link 'Full Headers' provided at the right bottom corner of your opened mail
